Last Dinner in San Salvador

Eli had a terrific last dinner for me on Friday. She invited her son and daugther-in-law, as well as a fellow Rotarian, Roberto, and his beautiful family. His eldest daughter is a Rotaractor also. It was one of those great nights filled with lively conversation. We talked at length about Salvadorian culture, attitudes toward the US, the United States' attitude towards Hispanics (sorry, I had to represent the whole US), etc. As far as intercultural communication goes, it was beyond interesting. There were so many different generations and many had lived in the US or abroad in Germany during different decades, which added to the discourse. It's easy to see why we stay with families on the GSE versus hotels. These nights are not only fun, but also a huge part of the learning. The only bad part was that I just wanted to stay longer with this family! It makes it easy to see myself returning or maybe just meeting up in Austin... Neny :) So sad to say good-bye!
Neny (Eli's daughter-in-law).. don't mind the shiny faces
